Choosing equipment for after dark

Start with the environment and duration. Urban routes with ambient light need different equipment from unlit woodland, and a 45-minute session has different power requirements from an overnight route. Consider the usable brightness levels, expected runtime at those levels, weather protection, weight and how the equipment behaves while you're actually moving.
